My husband and I HAVE TO eat at Spencers at least once a week. We have NOTHING like this in Ojai. Our fav? Shrimp and cream cheese wontons and giant fish tacos! I love the hard shell tacos with the parmesan cheese crust. YUM!!! Keep up the good work guys!

My daughter and I went the other night because it was raining, and she had told me the clam chowder was incredible. Of xourse I expected it would be good, but what I got was amazingly good! I don't know what spices they all use in that chowder, but it works like nothing I've ever tasted. Definitely not your run-of-the-mill clam chowder, and a 'must experience for yourself' treat on a chilly night. Friendly wait-staff, casual atmosphere. Just a really great experience from start to finish!

I was invited to go to Spencer Makenzies for lunch, it was SO good! Im really impressed. Not only did we go back the very same night but pretty much replaced our usual hangout for Spencer Makenzies. My fav: the chicken Parmesan tacos mmmm Ive been raving to my coworkers & friends about it all week and will be taking them to try it for themselves! See you guys Sunday for the Giant Fish Taco eating contest!

I can do nothing but reiterate the compliments from the other reviews. The giant fish tacos are addictive, both grilled and tempura. The fish is light and the cabbage, peppers and sauces compliment the flavor. It does fall apart easily, so it's not something to order on a first date if you want to come off as dainty or dignified.
I've also had their tempura vegetables and grilled vegetable burrito. Both dishes were delish.
Great location, with easy street parking. Nice patio, friendly staff, and biodegradable bags and utensils. This would be my second home if it wasn't across town.Clare T.
The food was so fresh. Instead of ordering one big meal, I decided to order little items to get a general idea of how the food tastes like. I ordered the Ahi pocket, a cup of the clam chowder, a shrimp (tempura style) taco, and 4 pieces of shrimp wontons. I didn't regret any of the items I got AT ALL. The Ahi pocket had chopped sushi grade ahi on top of sushi rice wrapped in some sort of paper, probably soy. The clam chowder was one of the best I've ever had. I am also a big fan of the shrimp wontons and the taco. My taste buds were definitely partying last night.
It was located in a semi-residential neighborhood and definitely had a laid back, surfer type atmosphere. It was a great way to end a perfect Saturday.
